Abstract:
Standard quantum computing circuits using qubits, two dimensional quantum systems in order to create logic gates. In these two papers the authors show that using higher-dimensional systems, it is possible to perform the necessary quantum logic gates in a far simpler fashion, requiring simpler gates, and less of these gates. In my talk I will highlight the results of these papers and explain where their efficiency savings come from, and the limits of recreating the results in terms of qubits.
